Cartier Santos Chronograph 2026
A Refined New Generation Lands at
Calibre 88 Dubai
The *Cartier Santos Chronograph 2026* is here, and it is the most wearable, best balanced version Cartier has made yet. Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2026, the new Santos de Cartier Chronograph keeps everything that made the original an icon while fixing the small things collectors have been asking about for years.
Here is everything you need to know about the new Santos Chronograph, plus where to see it in person in Dubai.
The story behind the Santos
To understand why the Santos still matters, it helps to go back to 1904. The Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont told his friend Louis Cartier that reaching for a pocket watch mid-flight was awkward and dangerous. Cartier's answer was a flat, square watch he could wear on his wrist and read at a glance.
That watch became one of the first men's wristwatches ever made, and widely recognised as the world's first pilot's watch. More than a century later, the square case and the exposed bezel screws are still instantly recognisable, and they live on in the new 2026 Santos Chronograph.
What is new in the 2026 Cartier Santos Chronograph
The chronograph first joined the modern Santos family in 2019 as a large, sporty piece. The 2026 edition refines that idea in five meaningful ways.
A more wearable size
The case now comes in the Large Model format at 47.5 by 39.8 mm and just 11.6 mm thick. It sits more comfortably on the wrist than the previous extra large model, while keeping the bold presence the Santos is known for.
A cleaner, redesigned dial
Cartier reworked the dial into a balanced three counter layout, with running seconds at 6, minutes at 3 and hours at 9. The subdials are framed in rhodium or yellow gold depending on the model, and the sword shaped hands carry green Super-LumiNova for easy reading in any light.
Pushers back where they belong
The unusual single pusher of the older model is gone. In its place are two classic chronograph pushers sitting neatly above and below the crown, the layout most enthusiasts prefer.
Three versions to choose from
Trusted everyday performance
Inside sits the automatic Calibre 1904-CH MC, with a column wheel and around 47 hours of power reserve. True to the modern Santos, it is built for real life. The SmartLink system lets you resize the bracelet by hand in seconds, QuickSwitch makes changing straps just as effortless, and it is water resistant to 100 metres.
